Description: Land Use - Land Cover information provides environmental scientists an understanding of the relationships between human activities, land surface physiography and water resources. A copy of the 2019 NWFWMD db was used as a base in conjunction with the States 2022 digital imagery and Leon Counties 2022 imagery to update the database to reflect 2022 land use and land cover. A single modification has been made to represent the remaining damage from hurricane Michael. A code of ‘9993: Hurricane Impact’ was assigned the classification for both the land use and land cover.

A copy of the 2009-2010 NWFWMD db was used as a base in conjunction with 2012-2013 digital orthimagery to update 2012-2013 database. Four new codes have also been added-- 8115: Grass Airports; 2100: Cropland and Pastureland; 1940: Grass Surface; and 1870: Stadiums (not in association with educational). One code (6540: Oyster Bars) was removed and polygons merged into adjoining polygons. A number of modification to existing code descriptions have also been made and these modifications can be sited in the Photo Interpreter Key assigned to the 2012-2013 data. Note: Roughly 1,650 acres of land in Alabama have been removed from the previous version and portions of Escambias and Santa Rosa Countys northern land use polygons were extended northward matching the boundary with the statewide Cadastral data layer. Some coastal land was also added to this version, increasing the overall size of the database from the previous version.Process description: A copy of the 2009-2010 NWFWMD db was used as a base in conjunction with 2012-2013 digital orthimagery to update 2012-2013 database. Description: This dataset (2004-2016) is a compilation of the Land Use/Land Cover datasets created by the 5 Water Management Districts in Florida based on imagery -- North West Florida Water Management District (NWFWMD) 2015-2016, Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) 2013-2014, St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) 2013, (Dec 2012 – Mar 2013) - Duval, Bradford, 2014, (Dec 2013 – Mar 2014) - Alachua, Baker, Clay, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Nassau, Osceola, Polk, Putnam, St. John’s, 2015, (Dec 2014 – Mar 2015) - Brevard, Indian River, Okeechobee, Seminole, Volusia, 2016, (Dec 2015 – Mar 2016) - Orange, South West Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) 2011 and South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) 2004-2005 and 2008-2009. Codes are derived from the Florida Land Use, Cover, and Forms Classification System (FLUCCS-DOT 1999) but may have been altered to accommodate region differences.NWFWMD--GEN_LABEL was added and calculated to categories typically depicted at the District or watershed level at Northwest Florida Water Management District.

Description: Land Use - Land Cover information provides environmental scientists an understanding of the relationships between human activities, land surface physiography and water resources. A copy of the 2015-2016 NWFWMD db was used as a base in conjunction with 2019 digital orthoimagery to update 2015-2016 database. The code 1700: Institutional code (Level 2), was down delineated into 8 new codes, being -- 1710: Education Facilities, 1720: Religious, 1740: Medical and Health Care, 1750: Governmental, 1760: Correctional, 1770: Other Institutional, 1780: Commercial Child Care, 1790: Institutional Under Construction. A number of modifications to existing code descriptions have also been made and these modifications can be found in the Photo Interpreter Key assigned to the 2019 data.Due to Hurricane Michael a new character, '9', has been added in the level 4 designation to indicate storm damage. This only pertains to select, mostly heavily vegetation codes or ones that show signs of vegetation damage. They include 2139, 2239, 2409, 2439, 3209, 3229, 3309, 4109, 4119, 4129, 4139, 4149, 4209, 4219, 4279, 4289, 4349, 4419, 4439, 6119, 6139, 6149, 6159, 6179, 6189, 6219, 6259, 6309, and 6469. The core codes of the delineated land use (or cover) have not been changed from their previous designation, we have just added the '9' designation to it. Determination of whether or not to keep the designation in the next update will be deliberated by the NWFWMD at that time.
