Description: The purpose of this shapefile is to delineate areas currently served by potable water utilities providing public water supply. These distribution areas are general boundaries in which a potable water utility provides service and actively distributes water.This shapefile is primarily based off of the FDOH Water Management Inventory dataset to determine known, likely, or somewhat likely public supply served parcels. Boundaries were further determined based off of best available data including: utility-provided hardcopy maps or shapefiles of varying quality, detail, and readability. Where these were not available District staff developed boundaries by estimating areas served based on pipeline locations, presence of domestic wells, parcel data, street data, aerial imagery, and Florida managed conservation areas.
